211.
sva-karma-sUtra-grathitAH[1] bhISma-droNAdayo’pi ca /
maYA ca phala-dAtrA hi hatAste karma-rUpiNA //
Even Bhishma, Drona and
others, like everyone else, are strung in the chord of one’s own karma. The
dispenser of consequences, as I am, they have already been killed.
212.
ityevaM vizva-rUpAkhyAdhyAye bhagavatoditaM / svadRg-jyotir-dig-vijayi
brahma-vedhe pravartitaM //
Thus was declared by the
Lord in the chapter known by the name of vizva-rUpa. The blaze of
Consciousness of the Self proclaims its sway as Brahman, the Absolute.
213.
amogho rAma-bANo’yaM brahma-tAdAtmyam-ApnuyAt / ekaM brahma-sarvagaM ca
aikyaM sva-jyotiSA saha //
Rama’s arrow is infallible.
It leads to the oneness with Brahman --
that oneness which is universally
pervasive and that is identical with the Light of the Self.
214.
anAdy-anantam-avyaktaM dRg-jyotiH sphATikaM mahaH / sAbhAsaM sphurate
nityaM yatha darzazca laukikaH //
The beginningless, endless,
unexplicit, grand crystal-like blaze of Consciousness keeps projecting the
reflection just as an ordinary mirror.
215.
pratibimbaM vinA darzaH draSTuM yogyaH kathaM bhavet / dRg-jyotizca mahA-darzaH saprapancazca bhAsate //
How can there be a mirror
without reflection? So the grand Mirror that is the blaze of Consciousness
shines along with the universe (of reflection).
216.
dRSTebhyazca parAvRtti-mAtreNaiva hi mucyate / dRg-jyotir-bhAsitA ete viSayAdhIndriyANi ca
//
Only the turning around from
the Seen plurality will release us. The
sense objects are all illumined only by
the blaze of Consciousness.
217.
jyotiSo na pRthak-satta eteSAM hi kadAcana / RtaM satyaM paraM
brahma dRg-jyotiriti vizrutaM //
Other than the Absolute
Consciousness there is no reality for these.
The rita, the Truth, the absolute Brahman are all only Consciousness – is what the scriptures say.
218.
vAcAm-agocaraM jyotiH dharmAH kAmA guNAs-tatha / svayam-eva nivartante
yasmad-yasminna santi te //
It is a Light that is beyond
words. All Nature, all Desire, all Attributes rise from there and fall in
there. They have no separate existence.
219.
yasya jyotiSi lIyante bhAvA dehendriyAdayaH /kathaM karmA-dhikAraH syAt
yantrA-rUDhaH karoti tat //
When all the objects, bodies
and senses dissolve in that Light, wherefrom do we expect to have any right
over our actions; the Wielder of the Magic Wand does it all.
220.
kAma eSa
krodha eSaH akArSIditi ca zrutiH / JnAnI
naiva karotIti lipyate na kadAcana //
It is the Desire; It is the
Anger; that does it all, says the Sruti. The Enlightened one does nothing, nor
does he get tainted ever.
221.
svadharme nidhanaM zreyaH dRg-jyotiSas-tathAptaye
/ kAzyAntu maraNAn-muktiH iti
tallaya iSyate //
It is best to carry on one’s
own dharma (rather than adapt to a dharma foreign to one’s nature) in order to
rise to the level of that
Consciousness. In ordinary terms this merging into the Absolute may
be spoken of as ‘Leaving the body in
the kshetra of Benares’.
222.
tajjyotir-draStum-icchan yaH tasyaivA-bhimukho bhavet / svayaM jyotis-tato bhUtvA
svasyaivA-khaNDa-pUrNatAM //
If you want to behold that
Light then you have to turn your face to it. Then you will become that Light
and the Universality of the Self will
be obvious.
223.
dhyayen-nirantaraM dhImAn sthita-dhIzca bhavedapi / mukta-sango
munir-bhUyAt svayam-asparzayogataH //
The wise man meditates by
the yoga of Detachment, becomes one of confirmed wisdom. Devoid of all
attachment, he is verily, a Muni.
224.
nAhaM dehendriyAdIni tad-dharmebhyo vilakSaNaH / iti bhAvo dhRDho yasya
nistraiguNye ratir-bhavet //
I am not the body or the
senses; I am distinct from them. One who has this strong conviction revels in
the state of the attributeless.
225.
etad-dRSTis-samIcInA vyApakI muktidA bhavet / vyApya-vyApakatAM hitvA svajyotir-anubhUr-bhavet //
This is the Perfect Vision.
This pervades everything, leads to moksha. Devoid of all duality like the
pervaded (object) and the pervading (subject) one experiences the Light of the
Self.
